Compliance Consultant II

ERISA Compliance Consultant

Location: Prefer candidate to be in the San Diego office but could be serviced from Indianapolis or Milwaukee. 

Responsibilities:

Functions in the role of an ERISA compliance consultant, working on all types of defined contribution plans, including cross-tested and safe harbor plans in a daily valued recordkeeping environment using participant recordkeeping services. Communicates directly with assigned clients and client’s representatives. Prepares and restates plan documents. Provides general plan design including 401k plans with crossing testing features to optimize benefits allocation to reduce funding cost & burden of responsibility. Calculates matching and profit sharing contributions. Provides trust reconciliation and completes governmental forms. Calculates restorative amounts. Expected to work with the larger Plan Sponsors handling more complex issues such as earned income calculations, assisting clients with compensation planning through multiple cross-testing scenarios, and working with plans containing Level 3 unique assets for reporting purposes. 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree desired.
  • Experience creating prototype and cross tested plan documents.
  • 5 to 7 years of experience working with Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) and non-discrimination testing.
  • Experience completing all required testing including: ADP/ACP, 402(g) limits, 415 limits, 416(c) Top Heavy, 410(b) Coverage, 414(s), New Comparability Cross Testing.
  • Must be knowledgeable of ERISA, Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and Department of Labor (DOL) Rules & Regulations.
  • Experience with trust reconciliation and completion of governmental forms (5500 & related schedules, 5330, 8955-SSA), Experience working on 5500 plan audits.
  • Experience in plan design and working with clients to prepare prototype & volume submitter plan documents, SPDs, SMMs, resolutions, loan policies, regulatory amendments, voluntary amendments at Sponsor’s request.
  • Experience with SunGard OmniPlus recordkeeping system, SunGard Relius, SunGard Relius Documents, SunGard Relius Government Forms, DATAIR and SEI EBR preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to interact effectively with all levels of company personnel, vendors and clients.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (e.g., Excel, Word).
  • Must be attentive to detail and accuracy.
