The New Proposed Fiduciary Conflict of Interest Rule - How Will It Affect Financial Advisors?
|

|
As the former Assistant Secretary of Labor for Employee Benefits and head of EBSA, Mr. Campbell will discuss the new DOL fiduciary rule and its accompanying prohibited transaction exemptions. The new proposal seeks to fundamentally change the rules governing the conduct of advisors to nearly $15 trillion in plan and IRA assets, and will directly affect not just advisors to plans, but personal wealth advisors who assist clients in managing their IRAs. Issues he’ll discuss include:
- Rollover advice would be ERISA fiduciary advice—what does that mean?
- What is the Best Interest Contract Exemption and what does it require?
- Why and how is the Department of Labor asserting jurisdiction over my conduct as an advisor to an IRA owner?
- The rules has been proposed—what’s next?
