The WPBC Orange County Chapter welcomes Derrin Watson back for another entertaining presentation. Derrin will be sharing his insights into the multifaceted retirement plan issues involved in corporate mergers and acquisitions.
Issues such as:
- How does the structure of the corporate transaction impact each entity’s retirement plan?
- What decisions need to be made about the buyer’s and seller’s retirement plans?
- How will prior service be credited for purposes of eligibility, vesting and contributions?
- How does the transaction affect HCE status?
- How does the coverage transaction rule work in different situations?
- What alternatives exist regarding distributions?
Our Speaker:
S. Derrin Watson, J.D., FIS Global
focuses on providing educational services to the Pension industry. He is the leading authority on controlled group, affiliated service group and leased employee issues, employee/independent contractors. Derrin specializes in retirement plans including qualified plans, 403(b), 457(b), 457(f), and 404A. He is also the author of Who's the Employer - A Guide to Employee and Aggregation Issues Affecting Qualified Plans. ASPPA recognized Derrin for his dedication to education for the next generation of retirement plan experts and his continuous support of others. With experience as a standup comic, he is sure to offer a presentation that is both educational as well as entertaining.

Doors open at 7:30 a.m. for check-in, breakfast and networking. Our program will begin at 8:00 a.m. and this program will end at approximately 9:30 a.m. The registration fee includes a full breakfast buffet and hosted valet parking.
