We are pleased to welcome back Steve Forbes to present us with his always-informative Legislative and Regulatory Update. Please note this is a WEDNESDAY meeting.
During this past year, the two sets of fee regulations have commanded most of the attention in the retirement plan area. As you have focused your attention on keeping up with your normal workload and implementing the two sets of fee regulations, the IRS and DOL have continued issuing guidance on other important issues. Furthermore, the two agencies have stepped up their enforcement of existing requirements. In this meeting, we primarily will focus on the other important developments over the past year. In particular, we will discuss topics on which the IRS and DOL enforcement is focused.
The topics to be covered include IRS administrative questionnaire initiative and its impact on plan audits, IRS correction procedures, insights on plan audits, DOL enforcement activity, court cases that affect plan administration, and other important guidance.
Our speaker will be Stephen W. Forbes, JD, LL.M., a Vice President in the Denver Division of SunGard.
